
The Indian films “RRR,” “Gangubai Kathiawadi,” “The Kashmir Files,” and “Kantara” made the cut on the list of 301 feature films the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) released. Movies that are formally eligible to compete in a variety of categories are included on the reminder list, but just being on the list does not guarantee that the movie will advance in the final Academy Award nominations, which will be announced on January 24.
The first Indian song to be shortlisted for an Academy Award is the RRR song Naatu Naatu. while awaiting the Oscar nominations. The movie is also up for Best Non-English Film and Best Original Song for Naatu Naatu at the Golden Globes.
Pan Nalin’s “Chhello Show” (“Last Film Show”), India’s official Oscar entry, also features in the list along with Vivek Agnihotri’s “The Kashmir Files”, Marathi titles “Me Vasantrao” and “Tujhya Sathi Kahi Hi”, R Madhavan’s “Rocketry: The Nambi Effect”, ” Iravin Nizhal” and Kannada movie “Vikrant Rona”.
Vivek Agnihotri, the director, tweeted about his delight over the situation “BIG ANNOUNCEMENT: #TheKashmirFiles has been shortlisted for the #Oscars2023 in @TheAcademy’s first list. It is one of the five Indian movies. I hope the best for everyone. a successful year for Indian film cinema.”

The Dolly Theatre in Los Angeles will play host to the 95th Academy Awards on March 12, 2023. This year’s Oscars will be hosted by television host Jimmy Kimmel. It is possible that this is the first time India has appeared on four Oscar shortlists, which come before nominations.
