Good news for all the anime weebs as the third installment of the critically acclaimed manga adaption Rent-A-Girlfriend will release in July this year. The makers have made the announcement on their Twitter handle by dropping the official trailer and poster illustrating the main character. The new season also introduces a new character named Mini Yaemori.
The anime is adapted from Reiji Miyajima’s manga series of the same name. It has 28 volumes as of September 2022. The publication began in 2017 under Kodansha’s Weekly Shonen Magazine. The show revolves around a college student Kazuya Kinoshita, who is dumped by his ex-girlfriend Mami Nanami after their date for about a month. Due to this sudden uncertainty, Kazuya rents a girlfriend named Chizuru Mizuhara on an online dating app and rates her low because he thinks she is unauthentic.
After their first meeting, the protagonist realizes that Chizuru is meaner than he had expected and tries to refuse her but as the course of events arises, they both pretend a fake relationship and the story will take an interesting turn when Chizuru will reveal her truth to Kazuya, who on the other side had developed feelings for her.
The romantic comedy anime will stream on Crunchyroll and is produced by TMS Entertainment. A special event was also held in March 2023 for the anime in Tokyo, which gave us some insights into the new plot.
