The most nominated programme at this year’s Emmys is Succession, which serves as both a fitting homage to one of television’s finest shows and a reminder that the wait between seasons is agonising. New episodes of the HBO drama can’t arrive fast enough after the subdued explosion of the Season 3 conclusion, but production on the fourth season is already well underway.

Season 3 ended with Kendall (Jeremy Strong), Shiv (Sarah Snook), and Roman (Kieran Culkin) coming together after Kendall’s confession of vehicular manslaughter and the blow of Logan’s betrayal. It also included Tom’s (Matthew Macfadyen) Godfather-style betrayal as he assisted Logan (Brian Cox) in giving the final push needed to cut the Roy children off, seemingly for good. What does it all signify for the future, though? Shiv is aware of what Tom did, but does Tom also know that Shiv is aware? Will detached tech bro Lukas Mattson (Alexander Skarsgrd) truly inherit Waystar Royco’s legacy? Will Connor (Alan Ruck) succeed in winning the presidency?

Succession Season 4 Announcement

Succession’s official accounts shared images on June 27 announcing that Season 4 filming has begun in New York City.

Succession Season 4 Release Date

For Season 4, no precise date has been specified. We anticipate that the new season won’t begin airing until 2023 because production has just begun.

Succession Season 4 Cast

Without the horrible rich family at its heart, Succession wouldn’t be what it is now. Brian Cox, Jeremy Strong, Kieran Culkin, Sarah Snook, Alan Ruck, Matthew Macfadyen, and Nicholas Braun are all set to return in Season 4 as members of the complete Roy (and Roy-adjacent, if you add Tom and Greg) family.

Regarding those whose lives revolve around the Roys, HBO just revealed that Justin Kirk, Stephen Root, Arian Moayed, Juliana Canfield. Furthermore, Hope Davis, Cherry Jones, Alexander Skarsgard, and Juliana Dexter-Jones will all return for Season 4. They join returning performers J. Smith-Cameron, Peter Friedman, David Rasche, Fisher Stevens, Hiam Abbass, Justine Lupe, Scott Nicholson, Zo Winters, and Jeannie Berlin who had already been confirmed.

Succession Season 4 Plot

HBO released a brief synopsis for the season, which will consist of 10 episodes: “The sale of media conglomerate Waystar Royco to tech visionary Lukas Matsson moves ever closer. The prospect of this seismic sale provokes existential angst and familial division among the Roys as they anticipate what their lives will look like once the deal is completed. A power struggle ensues as the family weighs up a future where their cultural and political weight is severely curtailed.”
