Created by Ryan J. Condal and George R. R. Martin, House of the Dragon is a forthcoming American dream show TV series. The executive producers of the show are Ryan J. Condal, George R. R. Martin, Miguel Sapochnik, Vince Gerardis, Sara Lee Hess and Ron Schmidt.

House of the Dragon received a straight-to-series order in October 2019 in October 2019 with casting starting in July 2020 and principal photography starting in April 2021 in the United Kingdom. The series was released on August 21, 2022. Its first season will consist of ten episodes. Another season is reportedly in development.

The developers have not uncovered a lot about the plot of House of the Dragon Season 2. Nonetheless, in a couple of interviews recently, they have hinted at a lot of things about the plot for Season 2.

House of the Dragon will follow the Dance of the Dragons, a Targaryen civil war that occurred in Westeros and is referenced in Fire and Blood and The World of Ice and Fire. This specific battle of succession is also explored in two novellas, The Princess and the Queen and The Rogue Prince.
