Cannes Film Festival Opening Ceremony: The 76th edition attracts Global celebrities to the French Riviera

Last year, Cannel labelled India the “country of honours,” and not to be missed, Deepika Padukone was involved as one of the jury members.

There is a lot of excitement about the 76th Cannes Film Festival, which will start today and run until May 27. As in previous years, some well-known Indians will attend the event to represent our nation.

With Deepika Padukone serving as one of the jury members, India was recognised as the “country of honours” at Cannes last year. In addition to the Pathaan actress, other actresses including Hina Khan, Urvashi Rautela Helly Shah, Aditi Rao Hydari, R Madhavan, and others also made an appearance.

Indian Movies to be showcased at Cannes 2023

The Short Films section will include Yudhajit Basu’s short film Nehemich, which he wrote and directed. The Covid-19 epidemic serves as a backdrop for the film’s examination of the social isolation experienced by menstruation women.

Aribam Syam Sharma’s classic movie Ishanou will be shown at Cannes’ Classic Section. The Manipur State Film Development Society recently restored this Manipuri classic, which was first exhibited at Cannes in 1991.

Anurag Kashyap’s film Kennedy will be shown at the Midnight Screenings section of Cannes 2023. Sunny Leone, Rahul Bhat, and Abhilash Thapliyal appear in the movie, which depicts the journey of a former police officer seeking atonement.

Agra, a new entry in the Directors’ Fortnight segment, examines the sexual dynamics within a family and the divisions brought on by a lack of physical space in contemporary India. The cast is led by Rahul Roy, who is assisted by Priyanka Bose and Vibha Chibber.
