“I miss my CID family,” says actor Narendra Gupta- well known as Dr Salunkhe in CID

Actor Narendra Gupta says, “I miss my CID family like a child would miss his father.”

Actor Narendra Gupta, who is well known as Dr. Salunkhe in CID, which finished in 2018 after a long journey, has joined the cast of Mauka-E-Vardaat – Operation Vijay. He plays the character of Newton Chattopadhyay. He says, “Newton Chattopadhyay is a 235-year-old man. Given his experience, he has in-depth knowledge of science, mythology, and history. He tries to help the police officers to combat supernatural villains. This is a very challenging character, one which I have not played yet.”

The actor avoided TV for right around 3 years. He says, “During COVID-19, the shooting went on an indefinite halt and most of the actors were home. When work resumed, I wasn’t quite interested in the offers that came my way. I utilized my free time for writing two film scripts and two plays. I did not want to rush into something. Also, since I have been working for a very long period, I decided to relax and it helped me rejuvenate myself.”
While he may have moved on to newer projects, the audience of CID continues to miss the show. Ask if there is a possibility of it returning to the small screen and he replies, “I do not know, but I hope with my fingers crossed that the show returns. Everyone right from the cast and the audience wants to see it come back.”

However they don’t shoot together – Shivaji Satam, Dayanand Shetty, Aditya Srivastava, and others – any longer, they make time to meet one another. Narendra tells us, “We speak to each other almost every other day. Around 20 days ago, we planned a get-together and had a small party. Daya (Dayanand Shetty) took the initiative and made all the arrangements. We are like a family. Though we are not shooting with each other anymore, we still remember each other. I miss my CID family and the show like a child would miss his father.”
