It is unfortunate to hear when people do not get their dues and salary and they resort to suicide. Just few days ago, because of financial debt trap, Tv actor Manmeet Grewal committed suicide. The on-going pandemic led to halt on shoots of various T.V shows and movies. Now, in a recent updates, Tv actors are complaining of not getting their payment by the producers.
We have seen a lot of bickering between Tv actors and show producers but this time the actors of Zee TV’s Humari Bahu Silk have been caught up in a war with the show producers. Actors reported that they have not received almost 90% of their dues and have only been paid for 15 days of work. The show starred actors like Zaan Khan, Chahat Pandey and Reeva Chaudhary in pivotal roles. Silver Ivory Production helmed by Jyoti Gupta took over the show’s production.
Reported by a news portal, an actor of the show revealed, “We’ve been asking the producers to pay us since quite some time now. Jyoti Gupta says that the channel (Zee TV) hasn’t paid him. When we contacted the channel, they clarified that the producers have not submitted the documentation of actors and crew that is required for the legal contract and the channel does the payment only against those documents. The channel understands our plea but their contract is with the producer and not with the actors and hence, they are the third party and can’t do much to help us out.”
Another actor, Kriti Chaudhary revealed that she had to abandon her house in Mumbai as she couldn’t afford the rent and daily expenses. She said, “The producers are not even empathetic about the sufferings. Even my parents tried calling the producers several times but they didn’t respond. I feel extremely sad for the make-up artists, Hair department and other technicians who are from the lower middle class.”
Actor Zaan also took to his social media to lash out on producers and reveal his condition in a lengthy note :
