Actor Arvind Trivedi, known as Ramayan’s Ravan, dies of a heart attack; Arun Govil, Sunil Lahri, Dipika Chikhlia post tributes

Arvind Trivedi, who played Ravan in Ramanand Sagar’s Ramayan, died at the age of 82.

Veteran actor Arvind Trivedi, distinguished for playing the role of Ravan in Ramanand Sagar’s TV Series Ramayan (1987), passed away at the age of 82. Trivedi’s nephew Kaushaubh Trivedi confirmed the actor’s demise, who suffered a heart attack on a Tuesday night. According to the reports, he was not keeping well and was withstanding age-related issues. Arvind Trivedi’s co-stars substantiated the news with heart-wrenching posts.

On social media, Arun Govil who played Ram interpreted Arvind Trivedi as “my dear friend” in a consoling tweet.

Sunil Lahri who featured as Lakshman wrote: Bahut dukhad Samachar hai ki hamare sabke pyare Arvind Bhai an hamare bich nahin rahe. Bhagwan unki Atma ko Shanti de. I am speechless I lost my father figure my guide, well-wished and gentleman.

Actress Dipika Chikhlia who played the role of Sita in Ramayan also shared her solace: “My heartfelt condolences to his family…a very fine human being #arvindtrivedi #ravan,” she composed on Instagram.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also languished over the loss of the Ramayan actor, as he tweeted: “We have lost Shri Arvind Trivedi, who was not only an exceptional actor but also was passionate about public service. For generations of Indians, he will be remembered for his work in the Ramayan TV serial. Condolences to the family and the admirers of both actors. Om Shanti.”

Trivedi was an abundant Gujrati actor for more than 40 years. During the federal lockdown in 2020, Ramanand Sagar’s Ramayan started airing on Doordarshan twice a day. The show got crazy viral on all platforms and attained instant popularity. He was also featured in other Doordarshan shows like Vikram Aur Betaal.

He starred in Gujrati films like Desh Re Joya Dada Pardesh Joya (1998), Kunwarbai Nu Mamermum (1974), Santu Rangili (1976) and Hindi films like Jangal Mein Mangal (1972), and Aaj Ki Taaza Khabar (1973) among others. He performed in nearly 300 movies his career.
