The Priyanka Chopra co-hosted CBS show ‘The Activist’ will be reimagining its format due to the faced backlash

‘The Activist’ Tv show has announced to change it’s format from a competitive series to a documentary due to the backlash faced from the audience.

The Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Usher and Julianne hosted the show, The Activist faced a heavy backlash after announcing the CBS show as a competitive series and was termed ‘tone deaf’ online.

The show will be changing its format when the netizens called it out, the Global Citizen announced on its Twitter platform and will now be portrayed in a documentary form instead of a competition.

CBS claimed on Wednesday that they have reimagined the original idea due to the criticism it faced and has changed it to a completely new and acceptable format.

Global Citizen took it to Twitter to release a statement regarding this, saying “The Activist was designed to show a wide audience the passion, long hours, and ingenuity that activists put into changing the world, hopefully inspiring others to do the same.”

The statement further added, “However, it has become apparent the format of the show as announced distracts from the vital work these incredible activists do in their communities every day. The push for global change is not a competition and requires a global effort”

The new format will encompass the work of six activists in a documentary context where the focus will be on their work; they will also be awarded a cash grant for the organisation of their choice.

“We got it wrong.” Shared the Global Citizen handle as an apology to the community of activists
