The unfortunate demise of the venerated actor, Sushant Singh Rajput, spurred a wild chase of NCB probes and CBI investigations. In September, Rhea Chakraborty, Sushant’s former partner, lodged an FIR against his sisters, Priyanka Singh and Meetu Singh for forging prescriptions of mental illness drugs for Sushant. However, his sisters denied the accusations and demanded for the FIR to be quashed. They, further, accused the force of damaging the reputation of their deceased brother.
In a fresh update, the Mumbai Police filed an affidavit before the Bombay High Court, denying allegations of damaging Sushant’s reputation. The cops made it clear that they are not derailing the CBI and NCB probes. Live Law quoted an excerpt from the affidavit that read, “FIR lodged at Mumbai seeks investigation into alleged offence of conspiracy, forgery, cheating and conspiracy by petitioners sisters of Sushant Singh Rajput, Dr Tarun Kumar and others for fabricating medical prescription to procure and administer controlled drugs/psychotropic substances to Sushant Singh Rajput without his actual examination. FIR also seeks investigations into the possibility of deterioration of his mental health and eventual suicide pursuant to the said conspiracy. This version of the informant disclosed cognisable offences warranting investigation and requiring no preliminary enquiry. Therefore, the Mumbai Police were duty-bound to register the FIR.” The affidavit further clarified that CBI is currently investigating the case filed by Sushant’s father against Rhea Chakraborty.
