IFFM 2021 : Manoj Bajpayee, Samantha Akkineni win for The Family Man 2, Suriya honoured for Soorarai Pottru, Vidya won for Sherni

The jury of the Indian Film Festival Melbourne includes Richa Chadha, Guneet Mongia, Onir, Australian filmmaker Geoffrey Wright and Oscar-nominated editor Jill Bilcock. Anurag Kashyap, Shoojit Sircar, Thiagarajan Kumararaja, and Sriram Raghavan were present at the ceremony.

Amazon Prime Video’s web series The Family Man 2, which was released in June, received tremendous love and support from the audience. The series featuring Manoj Bajpayee is now in the news once again. Manoj Bajpayee has been selected for Best Performance Male (Series) for The Family Man 2 at the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM), while actress Samantha Akkineni, who played a negative role in the series, has been awarded the Best Performance Female (Series) award.

The series is directed by Raj & DK, Manoj Bajpayee plays the character of Shrikant Tiwari, Senior Analyst of T.A.S.C, a fictitious intelligence organization, who undertakes dangerous missions amid family responsibilities.

Samantha Akkineni debuted in the web series world with The Family Man 2 and her performance as a suicide terrorist was highly appreciated. The story of the second season was based on the fictional plot of the plan to assassinate the Indian Prime Minister.

Another cult series Mirzapur 2 from Amazon Prime Video was declared the Best Web Series. The series featured Pankaj Tripathi, Ali Fazal, Divyendu Sharma, Kubhushan Kharbanda, Rasika Duggal in lead roles. The series is produced by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani’s company Excel Entertainment.

Actor Pankaj Tripathi was honoured with the Diversity in Cinema Award, which was presented by Latrobe University. Pankaj has given a new height to his identity as an artist in the last few years. In the current cast of actors, he is considered a capable artist, who is known for living rather than playing the character. Pankaj appeared in the recently released Netflix film Mimi, for which he was highly appreciated.

Vidya Balan has adjudged the best performance (feature) of a lioness. The film was released on Prime and Vidya played the character of a forest officer who is determined to save the tigers. The Best Performance Male (Feature) award went to Suriya, whose film Soorarai Pottru came on Prime last year.

Suriya’s Soorarai Pottru was also declared the Best Feature Film.

The Best Director award went to Anurag Basu for Ludo. Ludo was released on Netflix last year and became very popular. The film starred Abhishek Bachchan, Pankaj Tripathi, Aditya Roy Kapur, Rajkumar Rao, Fatima Sana Shaikh, Sanya Malhotra in lead roles.
