Time for the top action films on Prime Video, so start stretching.
1. World War Z
Story: With its fast-paced, chaotic, and explosive spectacle, the zombie genre is seen from a fresh angle in World War Z. In this heart-pounding epic tale, Brad Pitt plays a dual part that allows him to show off both his action star prowess as he effortlessly confronts zombies with a combat-ready military and his paternal kindness in the family side of the movie. In addition to Damon Lindelof, who created the HBO series Watchmen, and Drew Goddard, who served as an executive producer on The Good Place, wrote for Lost, and directed Cabin in the Woods, World War Z was also directed by Marc Forster.
Cast: Brad Pitt, Mireille Enos
2. The Lost City
Story: In the action romance comedy TheLost City, Sandra Bullock (Bullet Train) and Channing Tatum (Kingsman: The Golden Circle) are ridiculously endearing. The story revolves around romance novelist Loretta Sage (Bullock), who has become reclusive since losing her husband, and Alan, who appears on the cover of her book. Alan comes up with a scheme to save Loretta when she is taken hostage by a billionaire looking for treasure (played by Daniel Radcliffe, who is obviously having a joy in his role as a quirky villain). Brad Pitt also makes an appearance in a hilarious part, as if the cast weren’t already stacked enough. A genuinely epic blockbuster directed by Adam Nee is full of action, chemistry, and loads of laughter.
Cast: Sandra Bullock Channing Tatum, Daniel Radcliffe, Da’Vine Joy Randolph
3. Chungking Express
Story: One of Wong Kar-wai’s many tragic and gorgeous tales of love and tragedy is Chungking Express. Chungking Express addresses the loneliness of its characters despite seeming like a tribute to 1960s mafia and samurai films. The movie is divided into two distinct acts. The first part follows the exploits of He Qiwu (Takeshi Kaneshiro), a lovesick police officer who yearns for a mysterious drug dealer (Brigitte Lin). In the second part, Tony Leung plays another heartbroken police officer who converses with an amiable snack vendor (Faye Wong). One of Wong’s best films is Chungking Express, which is funny, touching, and unexpectedly action-packed.
Cast: Brigitte Lin Chin-Hsia, Takeshi Kaneshiro, Tony Leung, Faye Wong
4. The Northman
Story: The Northman can only be adequately summarised as epic. Epic storytelling, epic visuals, and overall epic movie. Amleth (Alexander Skarsgrd), a Viking warrior prince out to avenge the death of his father, is the protagonist of the movie. An A-list cast gives consistently superb performances in the movie. Along with Skarsgrd, the cast also features Ethan Hawke as Amleth’s mother, King Aurvandill, Nicole Kidman as Amleth’s mother, Queen Gudrn, and Anya Taylor-Joy as the Slavic sorceress Olga.
5.The Courier
Story: Just your average story about a salesman thrust into a nuclear crisis. The beautifully written and acted film The Courier tells the chilling true story of unassuming British businessman Greville Wynne (Benedict Cumberbatch) who is recruited by a CIA officer (Rachel Brosnahan) and an MI6 officer (Angus Wright) to help retrieve information on Soviet nuclear missile plans. While in Russia, Greville secretly meets with Oleg Penkovsky (Merab Ninidze), a man with strong intel into the Soviets’ war plans and nuclear capabilities.
Cast: Alexander Skarsgård, Nicole Kidman, Claes Bang, Anya Taylor-Joy, Ethan Hawke, Björk, Willem Dafoe
