There was widespread criticism on social media following the release of the Family Man 2 trailer. The Tamil audience was upset, and they demanded a ban to the series’ release. Now that the series is scheduled to premiere on June 4, #ShameonYouSamantha has started tending. A segment of the Tamil-speaking public has voiced concern with the series’ creators. A segment of the public claims that the second season of the show portrays Tamilians in a “very objectionable manner.”
However, a segment of the audience is opposing to the trend and the call to ban The Family Man 2. Another group of supporters believes that people should see the show first and then evaluate whether or not it is offensive to Tamils. Last Monday, the Tamil Nadu government asked the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting to stop or prohibit the release of the show’s second season. According to the request, the series portrayed Tamil Eelam in a bad manner. Tamil Nadu IT Minister T Mano Thangaraj claimed in a letter to I&B Minister Prakash Javadekar that the trailer depicted Tamils in a “highly objectionable manner.”

It should be noted that Manoj Bajpayee, the star of Amazon Prime Video’s successful web series The Family Man, recently responded to requests to ban it. During an interview with Bollywood Hungama, the actress mentioned how the series was produced by a team dominated by Tamilians, including directors Raj and DK, actors Priyamani and Samantha Akkineni, and writer Suman, all of whom have a strong appreciation for Tamil culture.
