As theatres are not likely to open anytime soon,many filmmakers are eyeing OTT release for their films whereas more and more Bollywood stars are making their debut on OTT platforms.Be it Abhishek Bachchan in Breathe: Into The Shadows or Sushmita Sen in and as Aarya, actors are testing the waters and are enjoying the ‘freedom’ of the digital medium. According to latest updates, Shahid Kapoor is all set to make his digital debut on Netflix with an action thriller film and an official announcement is likely in November this year.
As per a report shared by Peeping Moon, it is revealed that the Kabir Singh actor will soon begin prepping for a big budget action thriller film for streaming giant Netflix. Produced by Amar Butala, this film will not only mark Shahid’s digital debut, but will also be Vishal Bhardwaj’s assistant Aditya Nimbalkar’s directorial debut. The report further suggests that the project will be based on Operation Cactus, which was launched by the Indian government in 1988 when a group of Maldivians led by businessman Abdullah Luthufi attempted to topple the government in Maldives.
The shooting for the project is likely to begin after Shahid completes the shooting of Jersey remake and will be the first in a multi-film deal signed by the actor with Netflix . He will be playing the role of Brigadier Farukh Bulsara who commanded paratroopers of an Indian Army brigade in this military operation.
