The show revolves around a young boy Shakti Salgaonkar, who goes missing from his boarding school. As the search for Shakti begins, his parents encounter different perspectives that had been held by the students and staff about him and state that he was a disturbed child, who used to steal money and lie to others. A student himself claimed that he saw Shakti running away from his own eyes from the school. Due to the boy’s parents’ continuous requests, the school authority calls the police and they assume that there’s something more in the conspiracy that is kept hidden by all the students and the school.
A captivating line from the trailer goes as, “Ek sach ko chupane ke liye yahan kitne jhoot bole jaa rhe hai,” (to hide one truth so many lies are being told here). It makes us comprehend as to how the story will take a drastic turn. The cast includes Aamir Bashir, Geetika Vidya, Sonali Kulkarni, Vidya Ohlyan and Jitendra Joshi as main leads. The show is slated to release on the 2nd of June on Disney+ Hostar.
In a recent interview, the director Avinash Dhaware said to Indian Express, “Every child, in a boarding school or otherwise, will go through these phases at some point or the other. In today’s world, children are much more sensitive and exposed. School of Lies is a story of the times we live in, and an attempt to look with empathy at all the forces within us that may liberate or destroy us.”
