
An FIR has been filed against the makers of the web series ‘Tandav‘ for hurting religious sentiments. A report has been registered against Amazon Prime’s India head of original content Aparna Purohit at Hazratganj Kotwali in Lucknow, news agency ANI tweeted.
Further, the director of the series Ali Abbas Zafar, producer Himanshu Krishna Mehra and writer Gaurav Solanki has also been named in the FIR.
ANI tweeted, “Lucknow: FIR registered at Hazratganj Kotwali against Amazon Prime’s India head of original content Aparna Purohit, director of the web series ‘Tandav’ Ali Abbas Zafar, its producer Himanshu Krishna Mehra, writer Gaurav Solanki, and others for allegedly hurting religious sentiments.”

Earlier, two BJP leaders have raised issues against ‘Tandav.’ Manoj Kotak wrote to the I&B minister on Sunday asking for a ban on the web series for allegedly ridiculing Hindu deities. Another leader, Ram Kadam, has filed a complaint at Ghatkopar Police Station.
Tandav premiered on 15th Jan on Amazon Prime Video. Starring Saif Ali Khan, Dimple Kapadia, Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub, Kritika Kamra, Gauahar Khan, Anup Soni, Sandhya Mridul, Dino Morea, and Sunil Grover among others. The show has been criticized for two scenes: One in which Zeeshan’s character named Shiva uses the ‘F’ word while doing a play and another in which Sandhya Mridul’s character is talking about ‘Dalits.’
