Little Kevin and his slightly dysfunctional family discover a ghost named Ernest haunting their new derelict home, and when Kevin’s dad Frank (Anthony Mackie) decides to video the apparition on YouTube, the family and young Kevin instantly become overnight social media celebrities.

Up until he sees a ghost (Harbour) in the attic, teenager Kevin (Winston) is upset to be moving into a ruined house that his parents got a suspiciously good deal on. Kevin realises he needs a companion and calls the ghost Ernest. Kevin offers assistance in finishing off some unfinished business because Ernest is unable to speak or appear to recall anything about himself. But when Frank (Mackie), Kevin’s father, learns about Ernest, he sees a chance to make money and uploads a video of Ernest online that becomes viral.
