Obsession, a “steamy” new British thriller series on Netflix, has a premiere date. The new mini-series is characterised as an erotic thriller. It is directed by the duo of Glenn Leyburn and Lisa Barros D’Sa.
Morgan Lloyd-Malcolm and Benji Walters are in charge of the scripts.
The project’s new name is Obsession; it was previously known as Damage. At a Netflix UK event in London in March 2022, the series was initially announced as coming from Guamont UK and Moonage Productions.
Cast of Obsession
Richard Armitage, who starred in The Hobbit, will play William in this Netflix series; he has also starred in Remain Close and The Stranger.
The mysterious Anna Barton will be portrayed by Irish actress Charlie Murphy, whose resume included roles in popular British series like Happy Valley and Peaky Blinders.
Ingrid, William’s wife, is played by Indira Varma of Game of Thrones, Jay, William’s son, and Anna’s lover, is portrayed by Rish Shah of Ms. Marvel, and Peggy, Anna’s friend, is portrayed by Pippa Bennett-Warner of Gangs of London and Roadkill.
Anna’s mother, Marion Bailey, who portrayed the Queen Mother in The Crown, also has a significant part to play.
Plot of Obsession
The new series is based on Josephine Hart’s 1991 novel of the same name. It was adapted into a live-action feature picture by Warner Bros. and released in 1992. Juliette Binoche and Jeremy Irons were also featured. Recently, the official Netflix synopsis for the series was also made available.
It relates to an affair between the fiance of a well-known London surgeon’s son. It turns into an erotic obsession that has the potential to radically alter their lives. William, a doctor who has a strong bond with Anna, his future daughter-in-law, will be portrayed by Armitage.
William’s sons Martyn and Anna are already engaged. She has trouble keeping up her relationships with Martyn and William. Yet, the truth will ultimately surface, and someone will suffer as a result.
In the meanwhile, William finds himself drawn into an obsessive cycle without his wife Ingrid’s knowledge.
Release date of Obsession
The full limited series will be made accessible on Netflix globally starting on April 13, 2023. The anticipated number of one-hour episodes for the series will likely be three or four, giving it a lengthier theatrical film-like duration. In 2022, it was filmed in London, United Kingdom, between April and June.
A 10-second teaser was released by Richard Armitage.
