We’ve been waiting months for new Bridgerton episodes to premiere on Netflix, and we can’t wait for a fresh season of debutantes to grace our screens. However, because Season 3 is currently being produced in London, viewers will have to wait a long time. The next instalment of the sexy romance series is already beginning to leak details, though. We can’t help but devour all the most recent rumours, much like the Ton’s ardent Whistledown readers.
The Ton is in disarray by the end of Season 2 because Eloise Bridgerton and her best friend Penelope Featherington left off on a less-than-happy note, and Eloise pieced it all together in the season’s closing moments to discover that Penelope was the one behind the gossip column about her family’s scandals. Eloise’s budding romance with Theo was derailed, and Penelope’s love for Colin Bridgerton has also been crushed to bits, adding to the tension.
Bridgerton Season 3 Announcement
Bridgerton Season 3 Release Date
The release date for Season 3 has not yet been made public by Netflix. Apart from the fact that they were released two years apart, there isn’t much of a pattern from the previous seasons to draw from. Season 2 debuted on March 25, 2022, whereas Season 1 was released on Christmas Day, 2020. However, Season 3 is now under production, so we’re hoping for a release in the first half of 2023.
Bridgerton Season 3 Premise
The Julia Quinn books’ timetable was followed by the first two seasons of the programme, but Netflix has announced that while they want to adapt all of the books into the show, Season 3 will be out of chronological sequence. Season 3 will proceed directly to book 4, Romancing Mister Bridgerton, which concentrates on Penelope and Colin’s plot, and skip the third book, An Offer From a Gentleman, which describes Benedict’s (Luke Thompson) search for love. Below is the official summary provided by Netflix:
“From Shondaland and new showrunner, Jess Brownell, Bridgerton is back for its third season and finds Penelope Featherington has finally given up on her long-held crush on Colin Bridgerton after hearing his disparaging words about her last season. She has, however, decided it’s time to take a husband, preferably one who will provide her with enough independence to continue her double life as Lady Whistledown, far away from her mother and sisters. But lacking in confidence, Penelope’s attempts on the marriage mart fail spectacularly.
“Meanwhile, Colin has returned from his summer travels with a new look and a serious sense of swagger. But he’s disheartened to realize that Penelope, the one person who always appreciated him as he was, is giving him the cold shoulder. Eager to win back her friendship, Colin offers to mentor Penelope in the ways of confidence to help her find a husband this season. But when his lessons start working a little too well, Colin must grapple with whether his feelings for Penelope are truly just friendly. Complicating matters for Penelope is her rift with Eloise, who has found a new friend in a very unlikely place, while Penelope’s growing presence in the ton makes it all the more difficult to keep her Lady Whistledown alter ego a secret.”
Bridgerton Season 3 Cast
As Penelope Featherington, Nicola Coughlan will undoubtedly return, as will her love interest Colin, former BFF Eloise, and other Bridgerton family members. The actor playing Francesca has been changed, though. Ruby Stokes will no longer play the Bridgerton sister because she has gone on to feature in Netflix’s Lockwood & Co. Hannah Dodd will take her place.
For the upcoming season, three new actors have joined the cast: James Phoon as Harry Dankworth, Sam Phillips as Lord Debling, and Daniel Francis as Marcus Anderson.
