The Amitabh Bachchan-Ayushmann Khurrana starrer movie was originally slated to be released on April 17, but got delayed due to COVID-19 outbreak.

The movie depicts the day-to-day struggles of the common man through humour and songs. Notably, it is Ayushmann’s first collaboration with Amitabh Bachchan.

“This is the dawn of a new era for Indian entertainment. I am happy that a global audience will be able to watch our gritty dramedy, and enjoy what the film has in store for them,” Sircar said in a press release.

Speaking about the film, Amitabh Bachchan said, “Gulabo Sitabo is a slice of life dramedy that is a must-watch for families at home. I was excited about my role since the first time Shoojit showed me the character’s look. It took me almost three hours each day to get into character with its different look.”

Talking about his experience, Ayushmann Khurrana said, “What I love about the film is its sheer simplicity – the fleeting moments of simple humour in the banter between a landlord and tenant makes this film really special. I hope audiences love the film and our chemistry when it premieres.”

It is worth noting that due to Coronavirus-triggered lockdown, the cinemas are shut nationwide. The makers of Ludo, Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl, Khali Peeli and Laxmmi Bomb are also looking for digital releases, according to sources.
