Alien: The upcoming sci-fi and horror series from Noah Hawley (about the xenomorph as seen through the eyes of the USCSS Maginot spaceship) is one of the most highly anticipated new series for global OTT platforms; it will combine xenomorph terror with corporate intrigue and high-stakes survival in an unnervingly realistic way. Fans everywhere are excited for Season 2, which will include increased levels of chaos, additional franchise connections, even worse/creepier family dynamics than in Season 1, and even greater levels of horror than the end of Season 1.
Alien: Earth Season 2 Release Date Speculations
FX Networks has given the official green light for “Alien Earth” to return for Season 2 starting October 2025. The announcement came in November 2025 as part of FX’s multi-series network contract with Creator and Executive Producer Noah Hawley. While the new season of “Alien Earth” is guaranteed, the FX Networks has not provided an official air date for Season 2.
At this time the current filming schedule for “Alien Earth” Season 2 is to be shot in London during the year of 2026. The first season was primarily filmed in Thailand, so this indicates that there will be an overall change of scenery.
Due to the significant amount of visual effects and post-production required for the “Alien Earth” series, the current estimates suggest a possible 2027 release date would be the most likely airdate for Season 2. Season 2’s release will add time needed for filming, visual effects/post-production and FX’s air schedule.
Until production is well underway, viewers of “Alien Earth” will not have a confirmed air date for Season 2.
Alien: Earth Season 2 Expected Cast
No official cast list for FX’s second season has been announced yet, although Sydney Chandler as Wendy — who Noah Hawley describes as the series focal point — is expected back.
Others who were killed off in season one may have their continuity affected; among the former are David Rysdahl as Arthur Sylvia and Lily Newmark as Nibs, both left in the lurch after being either clearly killed, or having a question mark attached to their demise.
Actor Babou Ceesay (Kumi Morrow) has teased a wider and more pronounced sense of “family” in interviews recently, but cautions that “family” Based on previous seasons, is not synonymous with “tranquil” or “comforting,” which fits the franchise’s overall darker tone. Filming will begin soon; therefore, any announcements regarding cast revisions are forthcoming.
Alien: Earth Season 2 Potential Plot
FX has not yet published the plot of season 2, nor have they released any official synopsis of episodes. Season 1 takes place in 2120 approximately two years prior to the events in Ridley Scott’s 1979 film “Alien.” The reported early information and actor teases suggest that season two will be much closer to the timeline established in the Alien canon, thereby enhancing its story connections to the origins of the first film.
It appears that season 2 may have an expanded scope, with locations beyond those in season 1, as well as increasing levels of unrest, corporate and political intrigue. It’s likely that, as in previous seasons of Noah Hawley’s work, this series will continue its tradition of combining psychological horror with power struggles and escalating xenomorph threats, rather than relying exclusively on traditional franchise references. Until FX releases official information, what has been speculated upon thus far should be considered speculative and not definitive.
