Today marks the 12th anniversary of The Dirty Picture, and Milan Luthria and Emraan Hashmi have talked about their experiences working with Pinkvilla on the movie. Vidya Balan starred in the film as well.
Starring actors Emraan Hashmi and Vidya Balan in key roles, The Dirty Picture had a theatrical release on December 2, 2011. As the film clocks 12 years since its release today, the movie’s director, Milan Luthria exclusively told Pinkvilla about the tussle that he underwent during the filming process, including issues related to casting procedures and how, at one point, he believed that the film would be shelved. Emraan Hashmi also discussed his project in detail, stating that he is pleased to have been a member of the audacious team and that The Dirty Picture holds a particular place in his heart.
Another difficulty during filming was Vidya’s appearance clashing with her character: Director Milan Luthria remembered the days of The Dirty Picture
Luthria discussed his picture, which celebrates 12 today, in an exclusive interview with Pinkvilla. He recalled three occasions in which he thought the movie might be shelved. While the initial controversy concerned the casting procedure, Vidya Balan’s clashing image with her character created another controversy while filming. Furthermore, Milan stated that the title became a problem when distributors started to voice their worries.
The Dirty Picture star Emraan Hashmi, who played Abraham in the movie, describes it as “bold” and having a “realistic vision.”
In the 2011 movie, Hashmi was also spotted alongside Vidya on screen. Emraan began the endeavour by reminiscing and praising the film for being audacious and having a plot that was years ahead of its time. He also mentioned how much he loved The Dirty Picture and how happy he is to have been a part of an adventurous crew that pushed the envelope.
He also mentioned how much he enjoyed playing the multifaceted character in the movie that has a darker side.
“As The Dirty Picture reaches its 12th anniversary today, it has a particular place in my heart. Audiences responded favourably to the film’s audacious, avant-garde story and the team’s realistic vision. It’s always a joy to explore rich and varied human experiences and to portray a darkly sensitive, multifaceted character who adores the film’s lead. Emraan said, “I’m honoured to have been a member of a team that dared to push boundaries and engage audiences profoundly.
