The ASTRA Awards 2024 have nominated Jawan, starring Shah Rukh Khan for best international film

Jawan, starring Shah Rukh Khan and Nayanthara, is the only Indian film to receive a nomination for Best International Film at the 2024 ASTRA Awards. RRR took home five prizes from the previous year’s award event.

The Hollywood Creative Alliance unveiled their 2024 ASTRA Awards (Astra Film and Creative Arts Awards) nominations this morning. To the delight of fans, Jawan, starring Vijay Sethupathi, Nayanthara, and Shah Rukh Khan, has received a nomination for Best International Feature! This year’s list of nominees for Best International Feature includes just one Indian movie.

 

Alongside films like Barbie, Oppenheimer, Killer of the Flower Moon, John Wick, Spider-Man: Across the Spider Verse, and several other box office successes, Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan has been nominated for multiple ASTRA Awards 2024.

In the category of best international feature, ten films have received nominations. Atlee’s Jawan will face off against some of the greatest films ever made in a variety of nations, such as The Taste of Things (France), The Teacher’s Lounge (Germany), Fallen Leaves (Finland), Perfect Days (Japan), Radical (Mexico), Society of the Snow (Spain), Anatomy of a Fall (France), Concrete Utopia (South Korea), and The Zone of Interest (United Kingdom).

Under the direction of Atlee, Jawan features a cast that includes Shah Rukh Khan, Nayanthara, Vijay Sethupathi, Deepika Padukone (in a special appearance), Priyamani, Ridhi Dogra, Sunil Grover, and Sanya Malhotra. Shah Rukh plays a father and a son in the movie who work together to right social injustices.

 

Anatomy Of A Fall

Sandra Huller plays the lead in this 2023 French courtroom drama thriller, which is directed by Justine Triet. The protagonist is a writer who aims to clear her name following her husband’s passing.

Concrete Utopia

A South Korean catastrophe thriller called Concrete Utopia tells the story of an earthquake and its aftermath. Starring Park Seo-joon, Park Bo-young, and Lee Byung-hun, the film is directed by Um Tae-hwa.

Fallen Leaves

The main actors in this comedy-drama, a joint Finnish-German production, are Jussi Vatanen and Alma Poysti. The protagonist is a lone woman named Anna who encounters a solitary, alcoholic employee. Amidst all the obstacles, they attempt to form a relationship.

Perfect Days

The main character of Perfect Days is Hirayama, a middle-aged guy who leads a modest existence in Tokyo. His past is progressively revealed in the film through a succession of surprising meetings. Perfect Days was chosen as Japan’s submission for the Academy Awards’ Best International Feature Film.

Radical

In this movie, a teacher tries a novel and drastic approach to help his kids reach their full potential in a border town in Mexico that is plagued by drug cartel violence.

Society of the Snow 

A Spanish survival thriller called Society of the Snow is based on the 1972 Andes aeroplane catastrophe in Uruguay. It was chosen to represent Spain in the 96th Academy Awards’ Best International Feature Film award.

The Taste of Things

A cook and the gourmet she works for fall in love in the 1885 novel The Taste of Things, also known as La Passion de Dodin Bouffant.

 

The Teacher’s Lounge

The life of Carla Nowak, a teacher who chooses to become involved when one of her students is suspected of stealing, is portrayed in The Teacher’s Lounge.

The Zone of Interest

Jonathan Glazer’s historical drama film follows the lives of Rudolf Höss, the commandant of Auschwitz, and his wife as they try to create a utopian community close to the concentration camp.
