SHOCKING! Kiran Rao’s Laapataa Ladies scenes copied from 1999 film, ‘Ghunghat Ke Pat Khol?’ filmmaker Ananth Mahadevan has THIS to say

Mahadevan, who worked with Aamir in several films during his early days, remarked that Laapataa Ladies had picked up many ‘establishing scenes’ from his 1999 film, Ghunghat Ke Pat Khol.

Kiran Rao’s directorial return, Laapataa Ladies, was a hit in theatres when it opened on March 1, and now that it’s available on OTT, it’s earning even more love and acclaim.

However, as the film’s producers and cast celebrate its success, filmmaker Ananth Mahadevan has made some stunning claims, claiming that several parts of the film are lifted from his own 1999 film.

Mahadevan, who worked with Aamir on several films in his early career, remarked that Laapataa Ladies incorporates numerous’setting scenes’ from his 1999 film, Ghunghat Ke Pat Khol, which starred Joy Sengupta, Vishal Varma, Neha Pendse, and Sucheta Khanna in prominent roles.

He remarked that the beginning of Laapataa Ladies is identical to Ghunghat Ke Pat Khol. “In our film, a boy from the city goes to his village to get married. The mix-up happens at the railway station when he asks his new bride, who is in a ghunghat, to wait on a bench (while he goes looking for some information). When he returns, he joins the wrong bride,” he explained.

He did, however, add that the scenario from then on is different in Laapataa Ladies, but another scene, in which the cop could not identify a woman from her photo because she was wearing a veil, was taken from his film, Ananth stated.

And, if that wasn’t enough, Ananth said that Ghunghat Ke Pat Khol was once available on YouTube, but has now “mysteriously disappeared” from the internet.

Ananth added that he did not contact Aamir or Kiran about the situation since he knew they would point out the inconsistencies in the story. He also stated that he has no proof because his clip is no longer available on YouTube.

“I’ll treat it as flattery more than anything else,” he said.

Kiran Rao is yet to respond to Ananth’s claims.

According to reviewers and fans, Laapataa Ladies is one of the year’s highest-rated films. It features Pratibha Ranta, Nitanshi Goel, Sparsh Shrivastava, Ravi Kishan, Satendra Soni, Chhaya Kadam, and others in significant parts.
