Kuch Kuch Hota Hai Turns 25: Karan Johar picks his cast if the film is remade – Find out

Karan Johar recently discussed redoing Kuch Kuch Hota Hai in a hypothetical scenario.

Today marks the 25th anniversary of Karan Johar’s directorial debut, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol, and Rani Mukerji played major roles in the film. Recently, while revisiting the film, the director claimed that if Kuch Kuch Hota Hai were recreated today with younger actors, he would cast Alia Bhatt in the part of Anjali.

Not just that, in an interview with ETimes, Karan also shared that Janhvi Kapoor or Ananya Panday would be great for Tina’s (Rani Mukerji) role. “I think they are an irreplaceable cast, but if you put me in a hypothetical situation, then I would say Alia would be a great Anjali. Maybe, Janhvi (Kapoor) or Ananya (Panday) would be a great Tina. Rahul is tough… maybe Ranveer Singh,” Karan shared.

Shah Rukh Khan, Rani Mukerji, and director Karan Johar surprised fans at special screenings of Kuch Kuch Hota Hai last night. Karan organised three special screenings of Kuch Kuch Hota Hai in Mumbai on Sunday night to commemorate the film’s 25th anniversary.

Karan Johar, too, celebrated 25 years in the industry with the film. While fans came to recreate the iconic film, no one expected SRK, Rani, and Karan to take the stage. Fans were moved to tears when they saw the trio reconnect. Due to an outdoor schedule, Kajol was unable to attend the event.

Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, directed by Karan Johar, has become an iconic film in Indian cinema history. Whether it was Shah Rukh Khan’s chemistry with Rani Mukerji and Kajor, or indelible dialogues like ‘Tussi Jaa Re Ho, Tussi Na Jaao,’ Kuch Kuch Hota Hai remains a fascinating watch even today. Apart from that, Salman Khan made a cameo appearance in the film.
