New Delhi, Dec 17 (UNI) Chomping on burgers and gulping cold drinks, Bollywood actresses Huma Qureshi and Sonakshi Sinha tackle fat shaming in their upcoming film “Double XL”.
“Double XL”, which also stars Zaheer Iqbal and Mahat Raghavendra, has completed extensive on location shooting in London and New Delhi.
Directed by Satramm Ramani, the venture is set to release in 2022 summer.
Mudassar Aziz has written the script of the social comedy, which is about promoting body positivity.
T-Series, Wakaoo Films, and Elemen3 Entertainment are collaborating on the project.
The film is about two plus-size ladies, one from Uttar Pradesh’s heartland and the other from New Delhi’s flashy and glamorous world, as they navigate through a society that often attributes attractiveness or attraction to a woman’s size.
“Double XL” aims to poke fun at the social stigmas that contribute to bullying and body shaming.
The promotional video begins with Huma and Sonakshi’s voices in the background, questioning why people fat shame others when they have family members, like mothers, aunts, who are overweight. The two actresses also talk about how they themselves were body shamed when they joined the industry, and that they will have to work hard to shed the extra kilos they have put on for the film.
