Film to release on August 18 as makers share the first glimpse of the movie ‘Ghoomer’

The creators of the movie “Ghoomer,” which stars Abhishek Bachchan and Saiyami Kher, revealed the first look motion poster on Monday. It is a powerful representation of an amputee female cricket player and her resolve to play for her country despite confronting physical hurdles.

The 34 second teaser starts with a voiceover saying, “Logically ek haath se koi desh ke liye khel sakta hai? No.”

In the video, Saiyami is shown playing the paraplegic athlete Anina, who is carrying a cricket ball in her left hand while having her right arm amputated. She’s dressed in a white sports outfit.

Next, a brief sight of Abhishek as a coach appears. He has a serious and thoughtful expression and is dressed in joggers, a black zip and a matching t-shirt.

Further remarks from the voiceover include, “Lekin ye life na logic ka khel nahi hai. Magic ka khel hai.” The next scene shows Abhishek placing his hand on Saiyami’s character’s shoulder as she exhibits the fierce determination of a disabled athlete.

Abhishek tweeted a video with the comment, “Lefty hai? Left hi hai.”

The film, which was written and directed by R Balki, also features Shabana Azmi and Angad Bedi in key parts.

The protagonist of the tale is Anina, a young batting prodigy who tragically loses her right hand just before making her international cricket debut.

An callous, unsuccessful, and disillusioned player enters her life, inspires her with a new goal, and changes her destiny by giving her the most cutting-edge coaching to enable her to play for the Indian cricket team once more, this time as a bowler.

The new bowling technique they develop, called ghoomer, is meant to confuse the opposition. The extraordinary accomplishments of Karoly Takacs, the accomplishments of athletes with special needs, and those who have gone beyond what was considered “normal” are the inspiration for the play.

On August 12, the movie will also be shown at the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne 2023’s opening night. On August 18, “Ghoomer” is scheduled for release in theatres.
