‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’ to go on floors from next week

Nation-wide lockdown was imposed in late March amidst the Covid-19 pandemic. Shootings were put on hold but now with the commencement of Lockdown 5.0 and a new set of Government guidelines filmmakets get Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray’s approval for shootings of ads, shows, and shoots for films which will resume from the next few days.

And it most likely that Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s, Alia Bhatt starrer, ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’ will be the first one to go on floors from next week. As told by Ashok Dubey, General Secretary, Federation of Western India Cine Employees , “Sanjay Leela Bhansali was already shooting in Filmcity and his set is still there. So the possibility is that his movie will be the first to resume shooting with the necessary precautions, once the permission is granted by CM. Boney Kapoor ji’s film was being shot in Madh Island, his sets have been covered and he may begin shooting once the lockdown ends. A lot of filmmakers have kept their sets intact, waiting to start shoot post lockdown.”

Earlier Ashok Dubey confirmed that the sets of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s film is not destroyed and is ‘very much there’ .

Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s most anticipated film of the year ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’, starring Alia Bhatt, based on a chapter of Hussain Zaidi’s book Mafia Queens of Mumbai about Gangubai Kothewali, the madam of a brothel in Kamathipura, has been in the news for quite a time now. Earlier Alia Bhatt was suppose to do Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Insha’allah’ alongside Salman Khan however things did not fit in place and the film got shelved. But now it seems like finally the shoot will begin soon following the guidelines provided by the government.
