The anime adaption of the famous Korean drama True Beauty will be released today on Crunchyroll. Yes, you read it right. After a long wait, the anime will premiere today, on the 7th of August. It has been produced by Studio N and Cocktail Media.
True Beauty was initially published in Naver Webtoon in 2018. Later in 2020, it was adapted into a Korean drama, which gives by the same name. The initial announcement regarding the adaption of the webtoon into a show was made in 2019. True Beauty is currently available to watch on Netflix.
The series has a huge fan following and it has been appreciated in high numbers. It’s growing popularity encouraged makers to adapt it into a anime. In 2023, Crunchyroll announced that it has licensed the series and will air it on their streaming platform.
True Beauty revolves around a teenage girl, Ju-kyung Lim. She has been bullied as a child due to her looks. Ju-kyung finds it difficult to make people like her. She masters the art of makeup and hides her real face behind it. Her makeup skills makes her look like a goddess and her classmates start appreciating her.
Ju-kyung finds herself in a strange situation as the two most handsome boys in school start liking her. While the former knows about her truth, the latter is a bad boy and seems to have a rivalry with him.
