Choi Sung-bong, a Korean musician who pretended to have cancer a few years ago, was discovered dead at his home. According to reports, he died on Tuesday morning, a day after posting a note on YouTube. He rose to prominence after finishing second on Korea’s Got Talent.

According to the Korea Times, authorities discovered Sung-bong, 33, dead at his house in Seoul’s Yeoksam-dong neighbourhood at 9:41 a.m. on Tuesday. He committed suicide, according to authorities on Wednesday.

The singer rose to prominence after finishing second in Korea’s Got Talent in 2011. However, in 2021, he falsely claimed to be fighting numerous malignancies. Following this, he obtained substantial funding. Later, Sung-bong admitted his mistakes and vowed to repay the donations he had collected.

Sung-bong was abandoned at an orphanage when he was three years old. He fled there to avoid physical violence and began residing in Daejeon. Sung-bong studied music with Jeong-So Park and attended Dae-Jeon Art High School. He also attended Kyung-Hee Cyber University.
