Wizards of Waverly Place sequel series confirmed on Disney; Selena Gomez, David Henrie to start shooting this year

Wizards of Waverly Place is creating its own universe as Disney Channel has approved a sequel series Wizards (w/t), which will feature its original star cast Selena Gomez and David Henrie reprising their roles and taking on executive producer duties.

The series will go down on floor in April in Los Angeles and the creators have scheduled a tentative release date for later this year on Disney Channel and Disney+.

It was earlier reported by Deadline that the project will be written and executive produced by Jed Elinoff and Scott Thomas who are behind another Disney Channel comedy spinoff, Raven’s Home.

The plot of the series follows an adult Justin Russo, played by David, who has chosen to lead a normal, mortal life with his family Giada, played by Mimi Gianopulos, Roman, played by Alkaio Thiele, and Milo, played by Max Matenko. When Justin’s sister Alex, played by Selena, brings home Billie, played by Janice LeAnn Brown, he realises that he must dust off his magical powers to mentor the wizard-in-training while also juggling his everyday responsibilities such as safeguarding the future of wizard world.
