Between 2011 and 2013, The Rock and John Cena had an epic rivalry. The Rock cost Cena during his main event battle against The Miz at Wrestlemania 27. The two legends would face off in the main event of Wrestlemania 28 a day later, according to WWE.

The WWE announced the main event about a year before the show for the first time. During their first match, The Rock defeated WWE’s face. On the way to Wrestlemania 29, The Rock won the WWE Championship. Cena earned a championship shot after winning the Royal Rumble in 2013 and challenged The Rock.

Cena reclaimed the WWE Championship after defeating The Rock at the Show of Shows. The show concluded with The Rock hoisting Cena’s arm in the air. It is still The Rock’s final full-time match in WWE. He did compete in a match against Erick Rowan at Wrestlemania 32, but it wasn’t a genuine match. From 2013 to 2019, The Rock made numerous appearances but was never a part of a proper storyline.

Cena has followed in the footsteps of The Rock by becoming a full-time actor. He is now a part-time celebrity.

Cena will be a WE TV regular and will appear on every Smackdown until the end of October. He took on a unique role as the show’s host at WWE Payback. Cena is expected to compete in a match before the end of his current WWE tenure.

On the way to Wrestlemania 40, The Rock might possibly surprise fans with a surprising announcement. If he decides to return, the future WWE Hall of Famer will challenge Roman Reigns for the Undisputed Universal Championship.
