Uncharted 2 still hasn’t been officially affirmed by Sony, yet there’s no need to lose hope as we’re almost certain it will happen.
In May 2022, Sony boss Tom Rothman called the film “a brand-new franchise for us ” in an interaction with Deadline. The franchise just isn’t a word utilized for a one-off movie, so Sony are clearly thinking about another outing for Nate and Sully on the big screen.
As of now, it’s just a waiting game for Sony to officially announce Uncharted 2, and while we wait, here’s everything we know so far.
Uncharted 2 Plot
On the whole, Uncharted is a self-contained origin story as the villains are dispatched and Nate and Sully track down the treasure. Tarnish needs to give up his haul to save Nate’s life, however, Nate kept some gold behind for his new mentor.
The big tease for the sequel came in the first credits scene as we saw Sam was as still alive in a jail cell. He’s writing a postcard to Nate and warning him to “watch your back”, however, it’s unclear if it’s a future danger or simply a general note about Sully’s dodginess.
Sam and Sully had been working together to find the treasure until Sam was shot by Braddock. Rather than helping him, Sully abandoned Sam to die and we wouldn’t blame Sam for holding a grudge.
In any case, other than Sam’s big return to Nate’s life, we don’t yet know a lot about what could occur in the sequel. The first movie was inspired by various bits from the video game series, yet was definitely not a direct adaptation of any of them.
Uncharted 2 Cast
Tom Holland would, obviously return as Nathan Drake in any likely sequel, alongside Mark Wahlberg as his mentor/father Victor ‘Soil’ Sullivan.
Sophia Ali will likewise return as treasure hunter Chloe Frazer who, in the 2nd game, was briefly Nate’s love interest. The first film had a hint of their potential romance, however, ended with them as potential rivals, after Nate tricks Chloe about the treasure’s location.
Uncharted 2 Potential Release Date
As mentioned above, Uncharted 2 presently can’t seem to be officially confirmed as a result, we don’t have a release date yet.
The first film was intended to begin shooting in March 2020, yet was delayed because of the ongoing global pandemic. Production ultimately began in July 2020 and finished up in October 2020, before reshoots in July 2021.
Strange likewise had different release date changes therefore before eventually arriving in cinemas in February 2022. A similar timeline means we probably couldn’t anticipate seeing it until at least 2024, and that is if shooting begins in 2022.
