As a brand-new episode of the anthology crime drama True Detective is approaching, the show is back on the case. Even though this is True Detective season 4, the show’s actual title is True Detective: Night Country, and nearly every other character—from the actors to the showrunner—is new. The eerie enigma that lies at the heart of it all, however, will undoubtedly continue to be explored by the characters and the audience.

True Detective, starring Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson, made its premiere in 2014 and quickly gained popularity. Following closely behind in 2015 was True Detective season 2, which starred Colin Farrell, Rachel McAdams, Vince Vaughn, Taylor Kitsch, and Kelly Reilly. True Detective’s third season didn’t premiere until 2019, when new writers took over the project. The core cast of the programme included Maherhala Ali, Carmen Ejogo, Stephen Dorff, Scoot McNairy, Ray Fisher, and Mamie Gummer.

True Detective Season 4 Release Date

Although True Detective season 4’s release is still some time off, HBO formally ordered the fourth season to series on June 28. True Detective season 4 has no release date or even a timeframe because production has yet to be completed. However, if we had to predict, we’d say that it will probably happen around 2023.

True Detective Season 4 Cast

Every season of True Detective has included a star-studded cast, and season 4 won’t be any different because Jodie Foster will play one of the roles. Foster began her career on television, but True Detective will be her first significant screen appearance since the 1970s. Foster portrays Liz Danvers, one of the lead detectives on the investigation, in True Detective season 4.

Evangeline Navarro, who will be portrayed by Kali Reis, is the other detective. Reis, a professional boxer and supporter of Indigenous rights, made her acting debut in the independent film Catch the Fair One in 2021. She received a special jury mention for the film at the 2021 Tribeca Film Festival, and the 2022 Film Independent Spirit Awards nominated her for Best Female Lead. Additionally, it was obviously seen by the True Detective crew.

Hawkes portrays Hank Prior, a policeman with resentments from the past that lie under a placid exterior. Eccleston will play Ted Corsaro, the regional police commander and a ruthless politician with a lengthy relationship with Liz Danvers. Shaw will be playing Rose Aguineau, a survivor with a murky history. Bennett portrays Liz Danvers’ trainee and protege, Peter Prior. Lambe is cast as Kayla Malee, a young nurse who doesn’t have much time for people who mistreat her family.

True Detective Season 4 Plot

Here is HBO’s True Detective: Night Country’s official synopsis.

“When the long winter night falls in Ennis, Alaska, the six men that operate the Tsalal Arctic Research Station vanish without a trace. To solve the case, Detectives Liz Danvers and Evangeline Navarro will have to confront the darkness they carry in themselves, and dig into the haunting truths that lie buried under the eternal ice.”
