Dwayne Johnson uncovered that in one of the beginning scenes of the movie, archeologists tragically destroy Black Adam with a bolt of lightning. The hooded figure quickly turns the man to dust, catches a bullet in midair, and afterward takes to the sky as the title appears.
Made by Otto Binder and CC Beck in 1945, Black Adam was a villain in the first Captain Marvel series published by Fawcett funnies. DC later rebranded the old Captain Marvel (for clear reasons), preparing for the 2019 film Shazam! featuring Zachary Levi. Johnson was initially expected to show up in that movie, however, Black Adam was spun off into its movie, which he portrays as a “passion project.”
Black Adam was intended to come out in 2021 but got postponed because of the COVID pandemic. It is now set to premiere on July 29, 2022
