Sirens: From the creator of Maid on Netflix: What is the dark series about?

Netflix has given green light for the next project by Maid creator and showrunner Molly Smith Metzler.

The streaming giant has ordered Sirens, a limited series that is described as a dark comedy that explores women, class, and power. The show is being backed by Margot Robbie’s LuckyChap banner and the Barbie star is also serving as an executive producer.

The series, which is based on Metzler’s play Elemeno Pea, revolves around two sisters, Devon and Simone, and Devon’s concern that her sister has unhealthy relationship with her boss, Michaela Kell. As per the show’s logline, Michaela is living is lavish lifestyle which is like a drug to Simone. Devon takes it upon herself for an intervention, but fails to recognise what a formidable opponent Simone’s boss is. What unfolds is an incisive, darkly funny, and sexy exploration of women, power, and class.

The series will be the first result to come from the overall deal made by Molly in the wake of success of Maid. That series, based on memoir by Stephanie Land, was ranked among the most watched shows of 2021 and earned three Emmy nominations.
