The final stop before the Oscars celebration, the sci-fi multiverse-hopping “Everything Everywhere All at Once” took home the top honour at the Screen Actors Guild Awards on Sunday night.
Following a significant win at the Producers Guild Awards on Saturday, the acclaimed independent film solidified its position as a front-runner for the Academy Awards by taking home the SAG award for best cast, while star Michelle Yeoh won best actress and Jamie Lee Curtis and Ke Huy Quan won supporting actor awards. Brendan Fraser also won for “The Whale,” taking up the award for best actor.
The majority of Academy voters are actors, hence the SAG Awards frequently serve as a significant predictor of the Oscars: in two of the past three years, the best cast winner (“Parasite” in 2020 and “CODA” in 2022) went on to win best picture.
