NBC’s medical sitcom St. Denis Medical is set to deliver another dose of comedy as the upcoming March 25 episode sees nurses Matt and Serena facing an unexpected mishap during a routine patient transfer.
In a clip released exclusively to Us Weekly, Matt (Mekki Leeper) and Serena (Kahyun Kim) are seen attempting to move an unconscious patient when he nearly slips to the ground. Addressing the situation, Matt acknowledges that they “kind of dropped a guy,” while Serena quickly interjects, insisting that nothing actually happened. As Matt recalls hearing a “bonk,” Serena disputes the claim, leading to a humorous back-and-forth over whether the patient hit the floor or her hand.
The mockumentary-style series, which premiered in November 2024, follows the chaotic lives of overworked doctors and nurses in an underfunded Oregon hospital. Featuring a cast that includes Wendi McLendon-Covey, David Alan Grier, Allison Tolman, Josh Lawson, and Kaliko Kauahi, the show has been praised for its sharp humor and relatable workplace dynamics.
Kim expressed excitement about working in a mockumentary format, emphasizing the fun of breaking the fourth wall and directly engaging with the audience. Meanwhile, Leeper described his time on set as a dream come true, citing shows like The Office and Parks and Recreation as major inspirations.
With fans drawing comparisons to classic sitcom romances, speculation has grown over whether Matt and Serena’s dynamic will evolve into something more. While showrunner Eric Ledgin hinted at a slow-burning development, he suggested that viewers will have to wait to see how their relationship unfolds.
St. Denis Medical airs Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET on NBC and streams the following day on Peacock.
