Mark Wahlberg explains what pissed him off during The Departed filming

Mark Wahlberg earned an Oscar nomination for his role in the 2006 movie The Departed, however, the behind the scenes moments were not always smooth were director Martin Scorsese.

The actor joined Jack Nicholson, Leonardo DiCaprio, Matt Damon, Alec Baldwin, and Martin Sheen in the star studded cast. He portrayed the role of staff sergeant Sean Dignam, who selected Trooper William ‘Billy’ Costigan Jr, played by Leonardo DiCaprio, to go undercover to discover a mob spy in the Massachusetts State police.

During his recent appearance on Happy Sad Confused podcast, the actor said, “I was a little pissed about a couple of things… Originally I was supposed to play another part. We agreed that I would play Dignam and I saw the advantages of playing that part and how I would approach the situation with everybody playing opposite me.”

Mark had more films lined up post The Departed, such as Invincible, which required him to have long hair.

The Daddy’s Home star explained that he supposed to be working on The Departed for a couple of weeks, post which he would have started growing his hair back. However, as the schedule change, Mark was still working on The Departed four months later, and the director was pissed because he would not cut his hair. “He was like, ‘You’ve got to cut you f–king hair’ and I was, ‘I don’t give a f–k’.”

Eventually, he settled his disagreement with Martin Scorsese, now 81.
