Blame Me follows the February release of Use My Heart Against Me, Simpson’s first single in 15 years. She expressed that the album is deeply personal, written for those who have struggled with societal expectations. “Music is what has brought me back,” she stated, adding that Nashville Canyon aims to inspire others to embrace their true selves.

Earlier this month, Simpson released Leave, which hinted at infidelity. The lyrics describe a relationship tainted by betrayal, featuring stark imagery of deception and loss.

The album’s release comes shortly after Simpson confirmed her separation from husband Eric Johnson, with whom she shares three children. In a January statement, she acknowledged the challenges they faced while prioritizing their family’s well-being.

Before her marriage to Johnson, Simpson was previously wed to Nick Lachey and had relationships with John Mayer, Tony Romo, and Billy Corgan.
