Happy Gilmore: Christopher McDonald claims Adam Sandler to have script for sequel

A ‘Happy Gilmore’ sequel is in the works, as per one of the original film stars.

Adam Sandler, who starred in the original sports comedy as the titular character, is involved in the project, according to Christopher McDonald. He spilled the beans during an interview on 92.3 The Fan on Cleveland.

In the 1996 film, McDonald played the role of Happy’s nemesis Shooter McGavin.

While talking to host Ken Carman, McDonald said, “I saw Adam about two weeks ago and he says to me ‘McDonald. You’re going to love this’. I said ‘What?’ And he says ‘How about that?’ and  he shows me a first draft of Happy Gilmore 2′.”

The Hacks actor further joked that the radio producers should cut off his comments, if in case the movie did not come through.

Adam Sandler’s character Happy Gilmore is a professional hockey player, who finds passion in golf. Soon, he joins a golf tournament and went on win enough money to buy his grandmother’s home before she loses it. During the tournament, Happy faces golfer Shooter McGavin, who is threatened by him.
