Game of Thrones showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss reveal their favourite death from HBO series

David Benioff and D.B. Weiss did a series with full of deaths, however, one in particular resonated.

During their appearance on the new episode of Happy Sad Confused podcast, the showrunners were asked to name their favourite character death from Game of Thrones.

“With Thrones, there was so much killing of good guys,” Weiss said, “and we finally got to really kill both Joffrey in season 4 and Ramsay Bolton in season 6. It was fun to go back to the old fashioned joys of just killing off a really bad guy.”

Speaking of Ramsay being eaten by hounds, Weiss said it “felt like it was balancing the scales a little.” This is because the character, portrayed by Iwan Rheon, was the most evil character in the series.

Benioff agreed about Ramsay’s death and added that the audience don’t really see the death, rather the viewers just get to see a part of it. “What you do see is Sophie’s smile… we did it seven times or something,” said Benioff. He continued that Sophie Turner, who played the role of Sansa, was so good that upon getting that shot, he felt like “I can now die happy.”
