Actor and musician Tyler Hilton recently reminisced about his early interactions with Taylor Swift, revealing how a teenage Swift’s admiration for his work led to a longstanding connection.
Speaking during a promotional event for his upcoming children’s book, Hilton recalled first hearing Swift’s debut single Tim McGraw and being struck by her songwriting. He mentioned in an interview that he had praised Swift’s talent before learning that she was a fan of his work. Her manager later reached out, leading to their first meeting at a small country show in California.
Hilton said Swift surprised him onstage, asking him to feature in her Teardrops on My Guitar music video—a request he hadn’t expected from a then-15-year-old. This collaboration marked the beginning of their association, with Hilton later opening for Swift at some of her shows.
As Swift’s career took off, Hilton stayed in touch with her and her family. He recalled staying on their boat when he first moved to Nashville, witnessing her creative process firsthand. He described her as an authentic songwriter who penned her lyrics in a diary, embodying a sincerity that contributed to her longevity.
Reflecting on Swift’s rise to global superstardom, Hilton admitted he hadn’t foreseen the scale of her success. He noted that her “nerdy” earnestness set her apart, making her one of the most beloved artists in the world today.
