A drama series is in works at Universal Studio Group’s UCP, which will be based on the music of Usher.
The Super Bowl LVIII halftime headliner and Grammy winner will serve as executive producer for the drama series inspired by his music. Apart from him, Selwyn Seyfu Hinds of Washington Black, Kenny Meiselas of KMei Productions, and Katie Zucker of Mad Massive are also executive producers.
In a statement, the singer said that his music has been relatable to so many people, regardless of where they are in their lives. “I’m happy to be working with UCP to bring music to life. I hope the series resonates with you the way my music continues to.”
The drama, which yet remains untitled, will be set in Atlanta and will focus on “individuals looking to find a place to call home.” While no writer has yet been attached, nor the UCP has taken the project to potential buyers. The series is expected to explore music, sex, style, secrets, and romance that threatens to tear the relationship apart.
