Dennis Quaid set to play serial killer in Paramount+ ‘Happy Face’

Paramount+ has finally found its Happy Place.

Dennis Quaid will featuring alongside Annaleigh Ashford in the series and will play very much against type in the role of a notorious serial killer nicknamed ‘Happy Face’ because he drew smiley faces on evidences to boast about his crimes. The series will see Robert and Michelle King as executive producers and will have Jennifer Cacicio as showrunner. It is based on real life story of Melissa Moore, the daughter of the killer, the true-crime podcast Happy Face. It is based on autobiography Shattered Silence, written with M. Bridget Cook.

The plot of the show is set around using Melissa’s story as a jumping off point to tell a story of how Melissa is drawn back into her father’s world decades after not having any contact with him. Happy Face, who is in prison for his crimes, finds way to force himself back into his daughter’s life. She must find out if an innocent man is going to be put on death for the crimes committed by her father. On this quest, she also discovers the impact her father’s crimes had on the victim’s families and faces a reckoning with her own identity.
