Brie Larson denies having potential for season 2 of Lessons in Chemistry

At Deadline’s Contenders TV event over the weekend, Lessons in Chemistry star and executive producer Brie Larson, showrunner and executive producer Lee Eisenberg, and show’s co-stars Lewis Pullman and Aja Naomi King attended to discuss the Apple TV+ limited drama series and the potential for its second season.

The series, which has been based on Bonnie Garmus’ best- selling debut novel, Lessons in Chemistry, is set in the early 1950s and revolves around the life of Elizabeth Zott, played by Brie, whose dream of becoming a scientist is being put on hold in a patriarchal society. When Elizabeth loses her job at the lab, she accepts her job as a TV host, wherein she teaches more than just new recipes to overlooked women, and men – who are suddenly listening – all the while she craves to return to her true love: science.

“If it’s Lessons in Chemistry season 2, then great. And it it’s something else, great. But it really felt like we reached the end of the story. We have no plans for a season 2,” Eisenberg said.

Larson, who did not only star in the series, but also served as an executive producer, doubled down on her saying, “We finished the book.”
