Matthew Underwood, known for his role in Zoey 101, has claimed that he was sexually assaulted when at the age of 19 by his former agent.
After receiving criticism from fans for staying quiet following the release of ‘Quiet on Set’ bombshell documentary, the former Nickelodeon star took to Instagram to reveal why he did not chose to speak out about the alleged claims made against employees of the network.
“When I was 19, I was sexually harassed and then assaulted by my agent at the time, who had spent a decent amount of time building trust with me as a friend and mentor. Again, my trust was betrayed and my self image was crushed,” he shared on Instagram on Friday.
He added that he had reported him the agency, which had ultimately had him fired. However, he is still active in the industry, which “provoked my move away from LA and ending my pursuit of acting.”
The former actor shared that he shared this story because he has been receiving negative emails, calling him a “pedophile defender” for not speaking out after several former child stars made alarming allegations about Zoey 101 creator Dan Schneider and former Nickelodeon dialogue coach Brian Peck.
