When Sanjay Dutt’s anger towards Salman Khan made him throw Rs. 1.5 cr car keys in ocean

During the 1990s, Sanjay Dutt and Salman Khan had friendship at its apex. The two were partners-in-crime; on their smooth riding motorcycles, they drove through towns while laughing hysterically. They were always together as they navigated through life’s challenges such as having to spend some time behind bars albeit in different jails for varied reasons. This particular friendship that had its foundation laid down in Saajan set a precedence for the world of show business but again, there was that moment when Bhai was not very happy with Baba over a role that was given to him.

When director Sohail Khan wanted someone like Sanjay to feature in Maine Dil Tujhko Diya even if it was just for an extended cameo, it was an easy decision for Shamshera actor since Sohail was the younger brother of his best friend. Nevertheless, Sanjay’s disappointment followed after filming ended.

In an interview with India TV, Salman talked about this incident and said that a new BMW car arrived at Galaxy Apartments that day. The Khans also invited Sanjay to their house. By the time he was leaving, Salman had gifted his friend with a BMW, which happened to be the first and the only piece of that vehicle available in all of India at that time.

While Baba took the keys graciously, what he did next was unimaginable. He threw them into sea and was angry with Salman because he wanted him to compensate for his pay check for the film (which he refused). The car was valued at Rs. 1.5 crore.

Salman also mentioned during one of his interviews that after Sanjay had thrown away those keys, the workers were dispatched on a mission to locate it; since they did not have a spare key for one among them most expensive cars. The key was found 4 days later, but certainly did not arrive at Sanju Baba’s place because he was disappointed by both Salim Khan and Sohail Khan.
