Vidya Balan is reuniting with Ellipsis Entertainment producers Tanuj Garg and Atul Kasbekar.

Vidya Balan is reuniting with Ellipsis Entertainment producers Tanuj Garg and Atul Kasbekar following the success of their 2017 social comedy Tumhari Sulu. We learned that after months of discussion, they’ve settled on a genuine slice-of-life drama that will hit the floors once the COVID-19 lockdown is lifted. As Vidya Balan’s latest film Sherni, which explores the human-wildlife interaction, debuts on Amazon Prime Video today, we have an intriguing new update on her next project that will spark the interest of her fans.

Vidya Balan’s yet-to-be-titled Ellipsis Entertainment movie will also include Pratik Gandhi, the emerging Bollywood star. In this romantic comedy, the star of Scam 1992 will be romantically paired opposite Vidya. It’s thought to revolve on two couples, with Vidya and Pratik playing the first love couple, while the creators have yet to cast the second. The film, which Swati Iyer Chawla co-produced, is claimed to be fighting societal patriarchy through a new-age plot that hasn’t been tried in the Hindi film business before.

This movie will be directed by ad filmmaker Shirsha Guha Thakurta, who is recognised for her distinctive and content-driven commercial films that are stirring and unforgettable. Shirsha has previously worked on Ram Gopal Varma’s films Rann (2010), Phoonk (2008), and Contract (2008), and with this Tanuj Garg production, she will make her feature directing debut. Pre-production for the film is anticipated to begin soon, with a 45-day filming schedule planned in Mumbai and South India later this year.”

Vidya Balan has signed two projects, the first of which is Suresh Triveni’s next directorial, which also stars Shefali Shah, and the second of which is this Tanuj Garg movie. Meanwhile, Pratik Gandhi is currently working on a number of projects and will begin filming for this Vidya Balan movie after completing Tigmanshu Dhulia’s Disney+Hotstar version of Six Suspects, which also stars Sharib Hashmi and Richa Chadha. Siddharth Roy Kapur’s Woh Ladki Hai Kahaan, in which he co-stars Taapsee Pannu, is set to begin filming in November of this year!

When contacted, Ellipsis Entertainment’s Tanuj Garg issued the following statement: “This is untrue. The casting isn’t even close to being finished. Even the scripting is still in the works. Only when we are ready can we make an announcement.”
