Veteran actress Ayesha Jhulka seeks Bombay HC demanding justice for her pet dog Rocky, 4 years after demise

Ayesha Jhulka also filed a complaint, stating that the public prosecutor did not take the necessary steps to conduct the trial.

Ayesha Jhulka, a veteran Bollywood actress, reportedly sued the Bombay High Court to seek justice for her pet dog Rocky, who was allegedly killed by her nanny Ram Andre in September 2020. The six-year-old canine was discovered dead at the actress’ house in Lonavala.

According to multiple media accounts, the caretaker informed the actress that the dog died by sinking into the water tank. However, suspecting foul play, the actress sent the dog’s body for a post-mortem.

The autopsy results found that the dog died from suffocation and strangulation, not drowning.

On September 17, 2020, the actress filed a FIR against André. Shortly after, he allegedly admitted to the police that he strangled the dog while intoxicated.

Andre was arrested on September 25, 2020, and subsequently incarcerated. However, he was granted bail only two days later.

In January 2021, a chargesheet was filed against André based on claims. However, the matter has lingered on in Pune’s magistrate court for four years.

According to news sources, Ayesha Jhulka’s appeal stated that even after four years, the trial in the matter has not begun since the Magistrate Court has failed to take cognizance of the chargesheet.

She also filed a complaint with the Directorate of Prosecution in Mumbai, claiming that the public prosecutor did not take the necessary steps to conduct the trial.

With no movement in the case, the actress eventually filed a plea with the High Court.

Ayesha Jhulka has appeared in several films, including Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikander, Khiladi, Chachi 420, Kurbaan, Waqt Humaara Hai, and many others. In 2022, she made her comeback and OTT debut with Tanuja Chandra’s Hush Hush.
